South Korean electronics giant Samsung is reportedly going to unveil an element proof version of the Samsung Galaxy S4, in the next coming weeks. This news comes from the launch event for the mobile phone in Dubia, where a reporter asked why Samsung hasn’t made a waterproof

South Korean electronics giant Samsung is reportedly going to unveil an element proof version of the Samsung Galaxy S4, in the next coming weeks.

This news comes from the launch event for the mobile phone in Dubia, where a reporter asked why Samsung hasn’t made a waterproof device.

The response was that a ruggedized Samsung S4, which would be water proof and dust proof was in the works – and that it would be announced in the next coming weeks.

That was given by Young Soo Kim, the President of Samsung Gulf, in at Questions and Answer session at the press conference.

This has been covered by consumer technology news site Techview.me, who notes that this is the first time it has heard of this model of S4.

Omio believes this could be a response to the Sony Xperia Z, with its IP57 rating.

The latter means it is ‘dust protected’ and can be immersed in water, up to 1 metre and for the duration of 30 minutes.

This was once only in the realms of the more durable rubberised mobile phones, such as the Motorola Defy or JCB devices – and not a standard flagship handset.

Cupertino based iDevice maker Apple has unveiled its Worldwide Developers Conference will start on the 10th of June, which in the past has seen a new iOS launched. WWDC is a five-day event set in San Francisco, where developers from all around the world get to learn about the future

Cupertino based iDevice maker Apple has unveiled its Worldwide Developers Conference will start on the 10th of June, which in the past has seen a new iOS launched.

WWDC is a five-day event set in San Francisco, where developers from all around the world get to learn about the future of Apple operating systems.

2012′s event saw iOS 6 previewed, with its removal of Google Maps; whereas the year before, iOS 5 was aired for the first time – with its introduction of iCloud.

This year’s event should be no different, where the website notes -

“Get an in-depth look at what’s next in iOS”

That indicates that iOS 7 is to be unveiled, although it is unlikely to arrive on any new devices until the autumn of this year.

Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO, has stated in an earnings call:

“Our teams are hard at work on some amazing new hardware, software and services we can’t wait to introduce this fall and throughout 2014,”

That alone shows that the rumoured Apple iPhone 5S would be not announced at the 2013 WWDC event, which many expected would not be the case.
